Book Proposal Information for Authors and Editors
(Book proposals should minimally address the following prompts and get submitted as an email attachment to your email cover letter.)
1. The name and title of the primary author/editor: Mr., Ms., Dr., PhD., EdD., M.A, etc.
2. The author’s e-mail address/phone number:
3. The name(s) and contact(s) for co-author(s)/co-editor(s) of the book:

5. The book’s primary purpose, theme, point of view, etc. (please provide several paragraphs):
6. Will the book be a collection of writings with each chapter written by a different author?
7. If a person has been chosen to write the book’s Foreword, who is that person (please give details about the person)?
8. What aspects of the manuscript sets it apart from similar works on the market? What group(s) of people will most likely purchase the book?
9. Has the author written other book(s)?
10. What is the approximate length of the book (based on 500 words per page)?
11. Are there photographs, graphs, or charts (please specify which, how many, and if copy right laws will be involved)?
12. Who is responsible for your professional copy editing, or will you use Discovery’s copy editors?
13. The standard book size is 6”x9”; will this meet your needs?
14. What percentage of the manuscript is complete? When will the entire manuscript be completed? Please include ONE CHAPTER OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT as an e-mail attachment to your Book Submission.
15. Does the author(s) want to pre-order books for immediate use in bookstores, book signings, conferences?

What is your college title, department, and university affiliation? Are you an active or an Emeritus instructor? Do you control book adoption for your own classes? In what courses will the book be adopted? At a later date, would you like to provide the names of three professors interested in also peer reviewing your manuscript?
